The name BULBILES comes from a contraction of the word « bubbles » and « mobile » in French, an object in constant motion, reminiscent of the fizzing of bubbles and the fragility of this amazing thing that is fermentation !
They are handmade in my workshop from a material woven by fermentation, bacterial cellulose, a bit like a vinegar mother that forms on the surface of the fermenting liquid. Once dried, it’s like paper, which I cut into little bubbles :)
The movement is reminiscent of effervescence and the fragility of fermentation: a small change in temperature or a light breeze can totally change its structure!

I do everything by hand in my workshop: making sure the fermented paper is growing, cutting, assembling, balancing, packing shipping, so that's why the BULBILES are made in small quantities.
